Familys in Zanskar

Zanskar is a part in the remote part of the Indian Himalay. 7 months a year the region is cut off from the outer world due to snow on the passes. The relatively small community arranges itself and moves closer together.

Due to temporary movements out of Zanskar cause of education or job-opportunities, one rarely meets all family members in the huge houses.

Primary all members of a joint family lived together. Nowadays it is a coming and going and one meets always different constellations in the big livingroom-cum-kitchen.

This series shows the house-members which happened to be there when I came for a visit.
